Biography

Professor Dato’ Dr Fuad Bin Ismail graduated with an M.D. from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1990. He obtained his FFRRCSI from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1996 and FRCR from the Royal College of Radiologists, London, also in 1996.

He is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre. Prior to this, He also served as Oncologist at UKM Medical Centre and Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

He has contributed to numerous publications, primarily covering the areas of Oncology and Cancer. He has also participated in many medical events and presentations within Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. Professor Dato’ Dr Fuad has also lectured extensively over the years. His lectures typically cover Master’s courses on topics such as Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Oncology, as well as Cancer Management and Care.

He has been actively involved in policies and protocols related to cancers, including the National Cancer Blueprint, Systemic Therapy of Cancer Protocols, and Clinical Practice Guidelines for cervical and breast cancers, among others. He also serves on multiple Malaysia Ministry of Health committees on cancer and was the National Coordinator for the Regional Cooperative Agreement (RCA) Project with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Professor Dato’ Dr Fuad stays actively involved in many research projects where he’s often the Principal Investigator or Collaborator. He is also an active committee member of the Malaysian Oncological Society.
