Biography
Dr Sow Wen Jen (Jenson) is a Clinical Oncologist trained to provide oncology care through chemotherapy and radiation therapy. He also received basic training in palliative care management. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from International Medical University (IMU) in 2008. In 2018 he completed his Master of Clinical Oncology at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). In December 2020, he is a fully certified Clinical Oncologist under the National Specialists Registry (NSR).
In the early year, upon completion of his internship as house officer in 2010, he went on to pursue a career pathway in oncology. In 2012, he joined the Oncology Division of Hospital Kuala Lumpur as a Medical Officer to continue his clinical interest in this field. Upon graduation in the Clinical Oncology Master Program, he began practising as an independent Clinical Oncologist at Oncology Department in Sabah Women and Children Hospital, Likas, Sabah. In June 2020, he was transferred back to Institut Kanser Negara (IKN) to continue his service.
Dr Jenson frequently gives public health talks and emphasize on the importance of cancer awareness. He also actively involved in numerous clinical research during his years in Ministry of Health. In 2019, he received the accolade of “Young Newcomers in Oncology Clinical Research, Clinical Research Malaysia Bulletin: Issue no.18” for his clinical research work.
He is an active member of the Malaysian Oncological Society (MOS) since June 2013 and currently the committee member of MOS. He is also an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) since January 2015, the European School of Radiation Oncology (ESTRO) and the Internation Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since January 2020.
Dr Jenson is also involved in several international clinical guideline projects such as Pan-Asian Guideline Adaptation (PAGA) in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer which recently published in the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), 2023 and the upcoming PAGA in Biliary Tract Cancer, 2024.
Dr Jenson manages variety of solid tumour malignancies with special interest in gastrointestinal (GI) tract cancer. He works closely with Dr Choo Su Pin, a renowned GI medical oncologist from Curie Oncology, Singapore, to ensure patient receive the best possible outcomes in GI cancer. He focuses on personalized cancer care using various systemic/ targeted therapy/immunotherapy as well as radiation-guided therapy to treat his patients.
